Simple Nutella Energy Balls

Need a super speedy sweet treat for on the go, or to boost your energy levels? These Nutella inspired energy balls are so quick and easy to make, with only a few simple and cheap ingredients! They only take a few minutes to assemble and roll into balls, which makes them the perfect treat to make when you’re in a rush! I love making these at the weekend and then taking them into work the following week. In addition, these are great to travel with and take with you on activities.

I love adding in chocolate chips and chopped nuts to create a bigger variety of textures. I really enjoy having the extra crunch, as well as the soft chewiness of the oats and peanut butter. It’s also really great to add in more healthy fats to your energy balls, to help keep you fuller for longer. Peanut butter and nuts are a great way to do this, as they work really well with chocolate and oats. I would also recommend adding some protein powder to your energy balls to make them even more satiating. It could be a great idea to add some cinnamon or dried fruits to these to add an autumnal twist or a bit of freshness to your own nutella energy balls.

Ingredients: (makes 15-20)

  • 1 cup oats (rolled or porridge)
  • 2/3 cup smooth peanut butter
  • 6 tbsp maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup chopped hazelnuts
  • pinch of salt
  • 2 tbsp chocolate chips/chunks (optional but very recommended!)

Method:

Step 1: mix all of your ingredients in a bowl until fully combined

Step 2: set the mix in the fridge for 30 mins. Cover in cling film.

Step 3: remove from fridge and roll into small balls (I usually aim for slightly smaller than ping pong balls). Enjoy!

Your nutella energy balls will last in the fridge for up to 5 days in an airtight container.
